For unmarked vehicles, it assures the public that it is, in fact, a law enforcement vehicle. There are many types of dash lights around today to serve the many needs of law enforcement and emergency personnel. Imagine it is nighttime and you are driving down the road. You look in your rearview mirror at the car behind you and you see lights flashing. You are either being stopped by a police officer or there is an emergency in progress and the police officer needs to get around you. Many manufacturers include mounting brackets, so make sure you look for that as well. Finally, since you may very well utilize your dash lights inside your vehicle on the dashboard as well as outside of the vehicle, ensure that the type you intend to purchase is waterproof.
