Emergency Vehicle Dash Lights Serve as a Warning to Motorists
The Dash Lights can alert you to the fact that there is an emergency near-by, and you either need to slow down or stop completely. Especially brilliant at night, you can't help but see them, sometimes from a great distance away. They serve the purpose of warning oncoming vehicles that something has occurred that warrants the use of the lights. Perhaps there has been an accident of some kind. Police may be in the area searching for someone who has committed a crime, or any number of other reasons. Using the Dash Lights is just one way of maintaining the safety of others on the road.
LED (light emitting diode) Dash Lights are used in police and emergency vehicles because of they are extremely long lasting, and you aren't going to be changing bulbs over and over as they burn out from use. The ability of an LED light to function for around 10000 hours makes them ideal in emergency vehicles. This makes them much more inexpensive to use when you compare the LED Dash Lights to one that uses a regular, or halogen bulb.
The Dash Lights that are being used now far surpass the lights that were used up until a few years ago. They are a lot brighter, use about a third of the power to operate, and require very little maintenance. The lights have the capability to pierce the fog or rain, and they do not "bounce back" as the older lights can do. This makes it much easier for the police officer to see what is going on around him, and the area he is inspecting.
At one time Dash Lights were only available by ordering them, but due to the popularity of use by law enforcement and emergency services, you can now buy them at any shop that sells lights to be used in these vehicles. Different colored bulbs are available, as well as intermittent flashing patterns. They can be plugged into any standard cigarette lighter, and come equipped with an on and off switch. You will be able to switch flashing patterns with the flip of another switch, and they mount easily to the dash with suction cups, making it easy to attach or remove them as needed, or they can be installed permanently.
If there is not a shop located in your area, you can use the Internet to research different companies that supply Dash Lights for emergency use. Look for things like alternating flashing patterns, the wattage of the bulbs, colors of the available bulbs, and the warranty with each light you are interested in. Besides being able to mount the light on the dash, some can be placed in the rear window if you prefer, but in general most police officers choose to mount them on the dash of the vehicle.
If you happen to be driving down the road and see flashing lights up ahead, or maybe coming up behind you, remember these Dash Lights signify an emergency, and it is a signal to you, the motorist to pull to the side of the road, or if directed, stop completely.
