Where do rich people in Silicon Valley send their kids for school?
I'm talking about the top dogs of Intel, Facebook, Apple, Mozilla, Nokia, etc. etc.
For the CEOs, Presidents, and Vice Presidents, and even politicians who have school-age children, where do their kids go? Are they all homeschooled with private tutors, or are there private schools in the area that are exclusive to these types of people? Or do they just go to regular public schools and nobody really cares who they are?
It depends on the kid and the family, just like in LA where I am. I know families worth over 100 mil who send their kids to great public schools, private schools with tuition of $25,000+, and to Catholic schools with tuition of $12,000+. You want to find the school that is the right fit for the kid. Some private schools have very rigorous curriculum, others have a heavy emphasis on sports or the arts. If one lives in an expensive area, there is a good chance that the local public schools will be very good. Not always, but often that is the case.
In San Jose, Harker is a favorite among families with very academic kids. If a kid isn't very academic, they're going to struggle with their rigorous curriculum and not enjoy school. The tuition is about $34,000 for high school plus another $2000+ for books, fees, etc. Kindergarten tuition is about $23,000. http://www.harker.org
Other popular schools are Bellarmine, a Jesuit/Catholic all-boys school, tuition of about $14,500 plus fees, and Archbishop Mitty, a co-ed Catholic school, tuition of about $13,000 plus fees. http://www.bcp.org/ http://www.mitty.com/
