Junction Block
How do you wire the interior of an exterior block wall?

Hello,

I have crawled into the attic of my new house to figure out how I am going to run cat6 cables throughout the house. The living room wall, where I need some ports, is drywalled but on the exterior (perimeter) wall. When I was looking in the attic, I noticed there was maybe an 1" horizontal "stud" that separated the drywall from the block. Can I drill holes into this to drop wires through it? What about junction boxes? There doesn't seem to be much room to play with... Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

yes you can drill the holes however you may run into a problem if all the nailers for the drywall are horizontal they will more than likely be one every 16 or 24 inches if only the top one is horz.and the others are vertical drill it drop the wire down . they do make a low profile box with trim for such cases as this you should be able to get them at lowe's or any large hardware outlet if this will not work for you there is a surface wiring kit available used on many solid walls you attach the wires to the surface then the decorative cover goes over the wire and attaches to a decorative surface box
