Multiple monitors one PC?
I have been using 2 monitors for a while now, and find it great. However, I need to expand to a third monitor, but I cant seem to do it without replicating the main screen. In my display options I am showing monitors 1, 2 and 3. I am currently using 1 and 3. I added a VGA splitter to the main monitor and selected extend my desktop, but it only duplicates whats on my main screen. I have a Dell Molex DMS-59 Pin Dual VGA Y Splitter as an output splitting monitors 1 & 3. How do I activate Monitor 2...Please Help Driving me crazy!!!! Thanks
That will NEVER work.
VGA Splitters merely take the signal for one monitor and duplicates it into two identical VGA signals. You will NEVER be able to display two different screens using a VGA splitter.
If you want to drive triple monitors, you need a video card that supports three monitors.
The only mainstream video card with triple-monitor support right now are the DisplayPort-equipped versions of the ATI Radeon HD5000-series cards. Those have triple-monitor support built-in, and will allow you to display different things on three screens. The third monitor MUST be connected to the card's DisplayPort jack for triple monitors to work. And your computer MUST have an available full-size PCIExpress 16x slot if you want to use one of these cards.
