Reasons for power failure in a desktop computer?
Reciently a computer repair shop replaced my crashed Dell desktop PC with an Insignia D400a and moved the files over to it... this replacement is turning out to be quite useless...
First time I use it (the Insignia) the power cuts off at the loading screen, the shop says a cord was disconected.
Second time the power randomly cuts off, though I'm able to turn it back on after letting it set. As the repair shop suggested, the computer has a new surge protector now. Computer otherwise works fine... though the surge protector doesn't appear to be helping the problem.
Last time the computer shuts off like it did before, at the loading screen. Computer will not come back on this time.
What on earth is going on?
the "cord" from the first shutdown was a cable found inside the computer, not the plug for the outlet... just so that doesn't confuse anything
Sounds like it could be a few things..
One idea is you need a new power box altogether for what your running. Even though the computer is powered through electricity, it can only process so much before calling it quits. I would invest in looking into a new power box.
Another idea is if your certain its the power, you may need additional fans to keep the hard drive and processor cool. If these parts overheat, the computer will shut down and lose power.
