Silvery Car Static

Will a metallic anti-static plastic strip behind my battery on my cellphone cause damage to it?
I noticed that listening to the radio in my car with my cellphone on was hard to enjoy because of the buzzing sound my phone's interference causes. I saw on youtube a video that shows someone placing a cellphone on a silvery electrostatic bag and the buzzing stopped. I went to a local computer repair shop and got one they were about to throw away. I cut a small square of it out and put it behind my phone's battery. It works! I haven't noticed any problems with my phone since it's been in there but I saw a warning online somewhere that it could cause tiny circuits to short out. (I tried the pinkish bag and it didn't stop the interference. Only the silverish one worked.)
No damage, just a noise shield for the amplifier circuitry of your cellphone.
