Ready-to-wear clothes are a cross between haute couture and mass market. They are not made for individual customers, but great care is taken in the choice and cut of the fabric. Clothes are made in small quantities to guarantee exclusivity, so they are rather expensive. Ready-to-wear collections are usually presented by fashion houses each season during a period known as Fashion Week. This takes place on a city-wide basis and occurs twice a year.

Fashion models may be used to display or promote various types of clothing, such as lingerie, swimsuit, and bikini. Models may be used in showroom, fit modeling, fitness or sporty modeling. Some are used for petite modeling or plus-size modeling.
The first person described as a fashion model is Parisian shopgirl, Marie Vernet Worth. She was a house model in 1853, to her fashion designer husband, Charles Frederick Worth.
Ariza Talent Center :The Fashion Model Directory (FMD) is an online database of information about female fashion models, modeling agencies and fashion designers. FMD is often denoted as the IMDb of the fashion industry, for being the world's largest fashion database. The project was started in 1996 by Stuart Howard and was taken over by FashionOne Group in 2002.
Ariza Talent Info FMD offers an identification tool for unknown models, a regular model of the month interview, modeling news and gossip, user polls, ratings and special features such as the favorites lists and submission options. The website has also an insignificant and highly spiteful & unprofessional message board.
FMD is a free site, which requires registration to access its complete range of functions. To register you need to have a valid e-mail account and a web browser that accepts cookies.
Registered users can also create a "my favorites list," which is a list of favorite fashion models that can be shared with the public.
Site visitors wishing only to view information without accessing interactive features can do so without registration. The site is available in two languages: English and German.
