Ghost Town? Not Really

Jerome Today
Jerome Arizona is no longer the old west copper mining town it once was, but now is a haven for artists. Today, Jerome is very much alive with writers, artists, artisans, musicians, historians, and families. If you are expecting to see an old western style ghost town, this is not the place be. Jerome advertises itself as a National Historic Landmark these days and that it is. Most all of the old buildings are filled with shops, eateries and art galleries. Jerome does have an element of mystery to it and could make for an interesting place to stay overnight. There are many beautiful B&B's to stay at and there is the Jerome Grand Hotel which has some incredible views of the valley below and boasts of ghosts in its halls. All of the Inns appear to offer a regenerating and peaceful environment for one to really slip away with.

There are many steep climbs and one way roads, but amazingly plenty of parking. The sidewalks are small and if you have children with you be careful with them. Which reminds me, the drive to Jerome is a dangerous one too. Jerome is located high up the mountain and the road in does not have a guardrail, so proceed with caution.

In summary Jerome is old, but it is no ghost town. Jerome is full of people going about their daily lives, tourists shopping around, artists trying to make a living, and shop owners showing what makes them different from the rest of the world. Located between Sedona and Prescott Arizona it is a must see and maybe even spend the night if you dare.
